About

We build for local businesses, and nothing else.

Mention Memo exists because how customers find a local business changed, and most of the industry serving those businesses hasn't caught up.

Why we exist

The rules changed and nobody told the businesses affected.

For twenty years, a local business needed a website that looked credible when someone clicked through from Google. That was the job. Plenty of agencies still sell exactly that, and charge well for it.

But a growing share of customers now ask ChatGPT, Google AI, or Gemini who to call and act on the answer without visiting anyone's website at all. Before that answer gets given, an AI reads your site and decides whether it can describe your business confidently enough to name it. Most local business websites fail that read, and their owners have never been told it's happening.

That's the gap we work in: building sites that convert the people who visit, structured so the systems deciding who gets recommended can actually read them.

How we work

Four things we hold to.

Plain English over agency jargon

We translate everything into what it means for calls, bookings, and patient inquiries, not rankings, 'signals,' or abstract optimization metrics. If a report needs decoding, it isn't finished.

Local business focus, not a generalist agency

We don't work with e-commerce stores, SaaS, or enterprise clients. Everything we do assumes your customer is comparing a handful of nearby options and deciding who to trust with a phone call.

Data before you spend a dollar

The free AI Visibility Check gives you a real score on your website before we talk about anything else. You deserve to know where you stand first, and you keep the score whether or not you hire us.

You own everything

Your domain, your hosting, your CMS logins, handed over at launch. You can take the site to anyone else at any time. We don't hold work hostage as a retention strategy.

What we won't do

The short list of things we say no to.

  • Guarantee you a spot in ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews. Nobody can, and anyone promising it is not being straight with you.
  • Sell you a rebuild you don't need. If your site is recent and structurally sound, we'll say so and point you at the monthly work instead.
  • Lock you into an annual contract. Monthly work is a three-month minimum, then month-to-month with 30 days notice.
  • Report on metrics that don't mean anything to you. No 40-metric dashboards, no impression counts standing in for results.
  • Take on work outside local businesses, however good the budget looks.

Who you're working with

A small practice, not an account manager and a queue.

Mention Memo is deliberately small. The person you talk to on the intake call is the person doing the work, which is the main reason a build takes about a week rather than a quarter.
