SEO & AEO

Get found on Google. Get named by AI.

Two things now decide whether a local customer ends up on your phone: where you rank in search results, and whether an AI assistant names you when someone asks who to call. Most of the work behind them is the same work. We do it monthly, and report on both.

SEO and AEO, plainly

Two names, one foundation, different finish lines.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is about ranking: getting your pages onto Google's first page so someone can click you. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is about being named: getting ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Gemini to recommend you directly, with no link to click at all. They are not the same finish line, and you can win one while losing the other.

The SEO half

  • Keyword and local intent research for your service area
  • On-page optimization: titles, headings, internal linking, service and location pages
  • Technical health: speed, mobile, crawl errors, index coverage
  • Google Business Profile and local pack visibility
  • Rank and traffic tracking in Search Console and GA4

The AEO half

  • Structured data written for machine retrieval, not just for rich snippets
  • Content shaped to answer the questions AI tools actually get asked
  • AI crawler access, which many local sites block without knowing
  • Entity consistency across the directories AI cross-references
  • Monthly checks of what ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI say about you

What makes them worth buying together is that roughly seventy percent of the underlying work overlaps. Clear service pages, accurate structured data, consistent business details, real reviews, and a fast crawlable site are what Google ranks on and what AI tools read before deciding who to trust. Do that work once and both channels improve. The remaining thirty percent is where they diverge, and it is the part most agencies are not doing yet.

The risk of standing still

Search visibility decays if nobody is tending it.

Rankings and recommendations are not a state you reach, they are a position you hold. Competitors publish. Directories drift out of sync. Review velocity slows. Google ships core updates and AI models change what they surface. None of that announces itself, which is why the usual pattern is a site that quietly slides for six months before anyone notices the phone ringing less.

  • A competitor starts publishing and takes the rankings you used to hold
  • Listing details drift, and inconsistency reads to AI as a reason to skip you
  • Reviews slow down, weakening the strongest local ranking signal you have
  • A model or algorithm update shifts who gets surfaced, and nobody is watching

What we do every month

Seven areas of active management

Content that ranks and gets cited

One substantial piece per month, researched against what people in your service area actually search and what AI tools get asked. Written to rank in Google and structured so an AI can quote it confidently. One piece of work, both channels.

On-page and technical SEO

Service and location pages optimized for the terms that convert, internal linking that spreads authority to the pages that matter, and the technical hygiene underneath: site speed, mobile usability, crawl errors, and index coverage.

Structured data

Your services, hours, location, pricing signals, and reviews expressed in a format machines read as fact rather than guessing at from prose. This is what earns rich results in Google and what lets an AI answer about you without hedging.

Google Business Profile

For a local business this is often the single highest-leverage asset you own, and it is usually the most neglected. Posts, Q&A, services, categories, and photos kept current, because both the local pack and AI assistants read it as a liveness signal.

Citations and listing accuracy

Your name, address, and phone swept across 30+ directories every month and corrected where they have drifted. One stale phone number is enough to make an AI uncertain, and uncertainty is how you get skipped.

Review building and responses

We identify which platforms carry weight in your category, run the follow-up system that keeps reviews arriving steadily rather than in bursts, and write responses within 48 hours in a voice that sounds like you.

Monthly AI recommendation check

We ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI the same questions your next customer would type, and document what they say about you and your competitors. This is the part nobody else is doing, and it is the only way to know whether the AEO work is landing.

What a month looks like

Active management, not passive monitoring

Week 1

AI recommendation check across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overview, with your position documented against last month; Search Console and GA4 pulled for ranking and traffic movement

Weeks 1–2

Google Business Profile posts, Q&A, and service edits published; review follow-up sequence sent to recent customers

Weeks 2–3

New content piece researched, written, and published; on-page and internal linking updates applied alongside it

Weeks 3–4

Listing accuracy sweep across 30+ directories; technical crawl for speed, mobile, and index issues; review responses written within 48 hours

End of month

Report delivered: rankings and traffic, AI position changes, review counts, GBP activity, and competitor movement, all in plain English

Common question

"I just had the website built. Why do I still need this?"

You do not, necessarily, and we would rather say so than sell you something. A new site launches you into a strong position and plenty of clients sit with that for a while. What the monthly work buys is holding that position while competitors keep moving. The honest version: if your category is quiet and you already get steady referrals, the build may be enough for now. If your category is competitive, or your revenue depends on being found by people who do not know you yet, a launch alone tends to fade within six to twelve months as everyone else keeps publishing.

Who this is for

Right for you if any of these apply

  • One lost customer a month costs more than the retainer, which is true for most clinics, firms, and trades
  • You had a site built, by us or anyone, and want to protect and compound that investment
  • Your site and Google Business Profile are already solid and you just need the ongoing work handled
  • You have no in-house marketing and do not want to think about this
  • Your category is competitive enough that standing still means sliding backwards

What it costs

Priced on your service area and how much ground you are covering.

A single-location clinic competing in one neighbourhood and a firm covering the whole GTA need different amounts of content, different citation footprints, and different review volume, so we quote after looking at your situation rather than posting a number that fits nobody. It is a flat monthly fee agreed upfront, with no percentage-of-spend and no surprise line items.

Three-month minimum so the work has time to compound, then month-to-month with 30 days notice. We do not lock clients into annual contracts.

What clients notice over time

Compounding results, not a one-time lift

SEO and AEO both build over months rather than weeks. Anyone promising you results in 30 days is selling you something else.

  • Calls from people who say an AI recommended you, which is the clearest signal the AEO half is working
  • Rankings improving on the service and location terms that actually convert
  • Reviews building steadily instead of stalling after an initial push
  • Monthly reports showing your gap over competitors widening rather than closing

Common questions

Questions about the monthly work

Is this SEO or AEO? I keep seeing both.

Both, in one engagement, because separating them would mean paying twice for overlapping work. SEO gets you ranked so people can click you. AEO gets you named when an AI answers without offering links at all. The foundation is largely shared, so we build it once and then do the specific extra work each channel needs. You get reporting on both.

Do I need to have had my website built by you?

No. Plenty of clients come with a site someone else built. We will assess it in the first month and tell you honestly whether it can support the work. If there are structural gaps that would cap your results, we would rather flag that upfront than bill you for months of work the site is fighting against.

I already have an SEO agency. Does this replace them?

It can, but it does not have to. If they are doing solid technical and content work, the honest gap is usually AEO: structured data written for retrieval, AI crawler access, and actually checking what assistants say about you. Some clients keep both and we stay in our lane. Ask your current agency whether they check ChatGPT and AI Overviews monthly. Their answer tells you which situation you are in.

Is there a minimum commitment?

Three months, because a single month of SEO or AEO work tells you almost nothing and we would rather not take money for a period that cannot show results. After that it is month-to-month with 30 days notice, so we can wrap up cleanly and hand over anything you want to maintain yourself.

What does reporting actually look like?

A monthly summary in plain English: rankings and traffic from Search Console and GA4, your AI recommendation position across the major tools and what changed, review counts and velocity, Google Business Profile activity, listing accuracy status, and notable competitor movement. Not a 40-metric dashboard you have to decode.

How long before I see something?

Google Business Profile engagement usually moves within weeks because it is the fastest lever. Ranking and AI Overview improvements typically start showing within 60 to 90 days. Content-driven gains compound over three to six months. These are the patterns we have seen, not guarantees, and the honest answer is that it depends heavily on how competitive your category is.

Next step

Every month without active management is a month a competitor can close the gap.

Book a call and we will look at where your search and AI visibility actually stands today, and tell you whether monthly work is worth it for your category or not.
